Bon Dance

During the summer months, we celebrate the Buddhist custom of honoring our loved ones who have passed away. This is known as the Obon season where many temples in Hawaii have Bon Dances.
This was Lexie's first experience at a Bon Dance and she loved it! From the moment she heard those beating drums and saw people dancing, she could not stop her little body from moving to the music. There was so much yummy food to eat and Cameron was nice enough to get Lexie some shave ice.
Two of her favorite things - ICE and SUGAR!
That's right, keep it coming!!
Thank you Cameron! You know how to win me over!! You are my best friend for life!
Then Lexie got a taste of andagi (Okinawan doughnuts). I've loved these ever since I was a child because my grandmother who was from Okinawa used to make them. I remember they were always perfectly round and so delicious.
I give them a thumbs up! They are yummy!
After all of that eating, Lexie finally got to join the dancers.
Thank you Chelsea and Kylie for dancing with me!

  2. You've made me miss Obon and andagi! Found you through another blog's links, your daughter is adorable and amazing. The painting post is beautiful. I love the painting and that she gets to do that (and the photos look like there is more than one artist in the family! Gorgious pix!)
    Cheers, tori
