Ladybug Girl Can Do Anything!

Our Ladybug Girl is now 29 months. Where has the time gone? Her face is constantly changing, so I'm glad that Eric does these photo shoots of Lexie each month.
During the summer, she wanted to read "Ladybug Girl" every night before bed. We have several books in the series and some of the books are really long, so daddy makes up stories to keep it fresh each night. Lexie loves Ladybug Girl's dog, Bingo. She loves to sing "B-I-N-G-O."
With daddy being a photographer, we considered getting Lexie into modeling, but she used to be a diva and not very cooperative in front of the camera. Recently that has changed and she has learned many types of poses and will do each one with the right motivation!! Usually M&M's does the trick. So we are once again considering if modeling is something we want to pursue.
Lexie is still a climber and now that she's getting taller, she reaches up on her tip toes to grab on to anything that she can swing on. We're thinking gymnastics may be in her future.
We are still working on potty training. Some days Lexie does extremely well and stays dry all day and then the next day will be the total opposite and she wets everything she wears. She has finally used the public bathrooms, which was a big hurdle. We've noticed that Lexie tends to have a hard time with things at first, then overnight, she masters it, so I'm hoping this will be the case. We're still dealing with not doing #2 in the potty. I haven't even begun to try and get her to sleep in underwear during the night.
Lexie says, "I love dancing" and she certainly does. Her head moves to the music when we're sitting in a restaurant. She'll run to the tv if she sees someone dancing and will follow their moves. She definitely has the music in her!
Singing is something else that she loves. When we're in the car, she will sing the ABC song over and over. At the end, Lexie says, "Next I love you, sing with me!" She taught herself to sing this song all by herself. She only said ABCD for the longest time and then kept adding more letters on her own and now says almost all of the letters. Lexie doesn't like when I try to sing with her. She'll say, "Mom, don't do that."
Other songs that Lexie will sing over and over again are "The Barney Song" and "Twinkle Twinkle". When she was learning "Twinkle Twinkle", she was so focused on the words, that her voice was so low and sounded like a robot. Now it's beginning to sound more like the song.
Lexie was exited out of the early intervention program. She took a 2-hour test which determined that she was either on or above her age level. A lot of the things that she had to do were things that I do with my kindergarteners, so it was great that Lexie was able to do them and she's only 2!
Now that Lexie is talking, she says things that just crack me up. We were in the car and she has a bad habit of picking at her nose. She told me she had boogers on her fingers and said, "I got them two times."
Lexie loves to asks questions. She always has to know where we are going and what we're going to do. She loves talking to our dogs. Today she was petting Maxx and saying, "How are you, buddy? You got a hair cut." She also loves to talk on anything that resembles a phone. Lexie will say, "How are you today?"
Today, I sneezed and Lexie asked, "Mom, you sick?" She will follow me around and talk to me constantly which I love but sometimes I need some alone time like when I need to go to the bathroom. I have to lock the door because she knows how to turn the knobs. She'll talk to me through the door. She'll say, "Mommy, you taking a bath? Are you done?" And when I open the door, Lexie is lying on the carpet waiting for me.
Lexie has refused many times to wear certain clothes. I've found the trick to get her to wear something is to say how pretty it looks on her or that it has pretty flowers or hearts and usually she will say she likes it too. She likes to choose the ribbons for her hair and loves to wear sunglasses. Once we went out to eat and she wore her sunglasses during the whole meal.
We are working on indoor and outdoor voices. Lexie can be quite loud. She'll start yelling for no reason and sometimes, we see her terrible two personality emerging. When Lexie doesn't get her way with dad, she will yell, "Mommy, help me." Thank you Kai-Lan for teaching Lexie the importance of listening. When we say "ting", she usually stops what she's doing and follows directions. For 99% of the time, Lexie is very well-behaved, but for that other 1%, she tries to see what she can get away with.
Lexie will be going on her first plane ride since flying home from Taiwan. It will be another adventure for us as a family as we head to Dallas to meet other Taiwan cuties and their families. Lexie has been such a blessing for us and we are truly lucky to be her parents.
