You'd Never Know

Just looking at this cutie pie, you would never know that she has a 1 centimeter hole in her heart. We visited Lexie's cardiologist today. The good news is the hole hasn't gotten bigger since her last exam. The bad news is that it hasn't closed liked we thought it might, so that means Lexie will have to have surgery. Our doctor has presented Lexie's case to a group of specialists who visit every few months and they've been monitoring her progress. They will determine when she will have her operation. We've been hoping that it would never happen, but now it looks like it will.

We were so proud of Lexie today. Even with her runny nose and feeling under the weather, she sat patiently in the waiting room and played with the zippers on her diaper bag. She stood nicely on the scale to be weighed and even lay on the table without squirming while they measured her height. She even said, "Hi" to the doctor when he came into the room. Then she sat on Eric's lap and watched Barney on the itouch while they did her ultrasound. She sat for 15 minutes and didn't cry once. We were so happy that she wasn't attached to the many wires of the EKG machine and didn't have to hang naked in that torture device they call an x-ray machine. She did cry when the exam was over, but I'm pretty sure it was because I turned off Barney before it was over. Through her tears, she said, "Bye" to the doctor. Her smile was brought back when she got to choose a Sleeping Beauty sticker.
Lexie got some sun this afternoon and played in the yard. She had fun swinging, riding the slide and just running and being a toddler. And every now and then, she would come and give hugs to me and Eric. You would never know this little girl had a hole in her heart because it never stops showing us how much she loves us. We love you too, Lexie!
