Busy Summer

I thought I could relax once school ended.  Instead we are very busy taking Lexie from one activity to another.  It's a crazy schedule but Lexie enjoys her little outings and getting to play with friends, so even though we're exhausted at the end of the day, it's totally worth it.

Lexie swims twice a week.  We love her teacher and the class is awesome.  She's finally submerging herself into the water and not just bending her face forward.  This girl can hold her breath for a long time!  She's still hesitant about getting into the pool even though she will tell us, "I think I can do it by myself."  But once she's in the water, she is always smiling and waving at us.  Today, she yelled out, "Hi mommy!"

Lexie loves gymnastics.  She is finally ready to move on to the next level, which means mom and dad don't have to attend class with her.  She's been pretty good about following directions and doesn't like when we tell her what to do.  She always says, "I can do it myself."

Her arms and legs are getting stronger on the bars.  Lexie's biggest improvement has been the trampoline.  She does a seat drop and straddle jump really well now.  It's great that there's always something new when she goes to class.  She loved rolling on these carts.

Lexie has been the most excited about going to ballet class.  She loves wearing the leotard with the skirt.  At her first class, she was grinning from ear to ear and so giggly because she couldn't wait to go to class.

Like gymnastics, her least favorite part about dance classes is the stretching.  She doesn't like to sit in a circle and just move her hands.  She gets bored really fast.  She likes to be moving around and dancing.

She's been pretty good about following directions and knows how to dance fast and slow.  She listens to the music and knows when to stop.  Lexie really watches her teacher and tries to copy what she does.  But a lot of times, she likes to stand in front of the mirror to look at herself.

The class that she goes to is a parent toddler one so I'm supposed to help her with the dances.  Being a little miss independent, she will yell at me because she wants to do it by herself.  So most of the time, I kind of hang out in the back and just let Lexie run to me when she needs me.  She's happy just twirling around on the dance floor.

We've also been going to the library every week.  Lexie loves looking for books and was disappointed when we went one day and the library was closed.  Our library has great activities for toddlers.  There was a bubble lady who made lots of different bubbles.  We also joined the summer reading program so Lexie can get a prize each week for reading.  So far, in two weeks, we have read about 30 books.

Our sunflowers are growing really fast.  This picture was taken about two weeks after we planted our seeds.  Lexie has been having fun watering the garden each day and we're amazed at how fast these have sprouted.  We may have sunflowers before I go back to work.
