It was a rough night. We knew Lexie would need to adjust to her new life, but didn't expect the screaming. She fell asleep after she ate and woke up about 9:30 and just cried uncontrollably. It took Eric about 30 minutes to calm her down. We found that she likes to be bounced and have her butt patted. She slept in bed with us and woke up about 2:00am. We gave her a bottle and then she fell asleep until we had to wake her up this morning.
She is a stubborn little thing. I guess that's part of her being an "ox." Even though she's tired, she will fight to stay up. We're getting to know Lexie a little better and we've noticed that when she's tired, she'll start rubbing her eyes or rubbing her face into our chest. She loves to ride in her stroller, so sometimes to calm her down, we've been pushing it around in our hotel room. She loves it when Eric just shakes the stroller.
Lexie is also much smaller than we thought. She still fits 3-6 month clothes and most of the stuff we brought is 6-9. We had to roll up the waistband on her pants so they wouldn't fall down.
We went to AIT today. That's where we apply for Lexie's visa. We were there for about 2 hours, just waiting and waiting. It took about 5 minutes for our interview. I'm so glad that I'm an anal person because I brought extra copies of things that I thought I might need and sure enough, they asked for our tax papers. After the interview, we had to pay for the visa. We had to bring crispy money because they put it through a scanner. And finally, we had a swearing in interview. Everything went well and Gina will pick up our visa tomorrow.
We visited the National Palace Museum. We were lucky to have our own personal guide. Gina's son Vincent was very knowledgeable about many of the items on display. We got to see the famous bok choy cabbage that was made out of jade. We also saw a gem carved into a piece of stewed meat. These are the 2 famous displays at the museum. While we were walking around, Lexie was hilarious. She just kept babbling in a really loud voice. Lots of people were looking at her and smiling.
We didn't get to walk around the grounds too much because it was cold, windy & rainy outside, so we ended up coming back to the hotel to relax. We were worried that Lexie was constipated because she hadn't pooped since yesterday. We fed her some prunes and presto, we got some poop, lots of it. The joys of parenthood!
We can't wait to come home. It's been an adjustment being with a baby 24 hours a day, but to also be in a hotel where we don't always have everything we need and then to be in a foreign country. We're counting the days until we're on that plane.
We're learning that you don't need 2 hands to do things. Right now I'm on the computer holding Lexie, who is trying to pull out the power cords. We're definitely getting a crash course in being parents.
Maxx and Gogo watch out. We showed Lexie a video of you and she was mesmerized by it and kept trying to hit the screen. I think she will love you 2 monsters!
