Lunch Out with the Family

We went to a family reunion for lunch. It was at a Japanese restaurant and we were a little worried about what Lexie would eat. We hadn't had much luck with Japanese food. Sometimes she likes it and sometimes she doesn't. I brought yogurt, fruits and lots of snacks, just in case. I also made sure she had a light breakfast, so she would be starving by lunchtime. I guess that worked because she had miso soup and was loving the tofu and rice in it. She ate chicken karaage, misoyaki salmon and even some green bean tempura. She loved the mango bread and butter pound cake that my aunty made.

Lexie sat really well during the meal time. When she started getting restless, I had her watch Barney on the itouch. There were 3 little boys there and she loved following them around. One tried to help her climb on to the ledge to look out the window. He was so gentle trying to pull her up. Lexie was just having a ball listening to her favorite song (Hey, Soul Sister) on the itouch and walking around and just exploring.
Lexie loves her cousins, Taryn and Jos. She makes this cheesy smile now when you take her picture.
Lexie loves getting spoiled by her Nana.
Of course, when Lexie saw this little fountain, she had to play with it. She loves anything that involves water.
Yes, at almost 18 months, Lexie still drinks her formula from a bottle. She does use straws or drinks from regular cups for everything else. She's still our baby, so this is one thing we haven't done away with, at least not until we're told that we can stop the formula. When Lexie gets a bottle, she usually snuggles on either my lap or Eric's to drink it. I love this bonding time with her. Tonight she went on the couch on her own and just sat there drinking her bottle all by herself. She was such a big girl, but half way through the bottle, she reached out for Eric to sit with her on the couch so she could sit on his lap. That really touched his heart because we don't want our little girl to grow up too fast.

Fun, Fun, Fun

The week went by pretty fast. I missed my baby girl like crazy while I was at work, but Lexie had fun at Nana's house. She got to go to the park to play. The rest of the week was spent with daddy who took her to Gymboree where they worked on tops and bottoms. Lexie also had her occupational therapy where she got to play a bowling game and find animals in the pasta. Eric said that everytime she found an animal, she would give it a big kiss.

Lexie loves to color. Here she is concentrating really hard. She looks so intense!
Grandpa sent her two boxes of clothes. Lexie loved the wings. She kept twirling around in front of the mirror to catch a glimpse of the wings. I love those tube socks.
Eric had a little get together with his photo buddies, so Lexie got to play with her best friend Alia. They had fun on the jungle gym.
Lexie and Alia did a little coloring. We're so proud of Lexie because she doesn't mind sharing her things.
It was fun for Lexie to have other children to play with. She loved playing with Aunty Lorna too!
Lexie and Alia were playing peek-a-boo in Maxx's crate.
Eric had a photo shoot with Ty who just turned a year. After the shoot, Lexie showed him how much fun her pirate ship was. She was really sweet with Ty and kept giving him things to play with.
Lexie loves when she has friends over to play. Hopefully Alia and Ty can come again real soon!

Another Weekend Flies By

Our weekends are always pretty busy. We do the usual things like cleaning and shopping. We even were able to squeeze in some tree trimming, which we always seem to put off. The most important thing on the weekends is to spend time as a family and make sure we give Lexie lots of love and attention.

We went to visit my grandma and grandpa's grave. This was the first time Lexie helped to put flowers.
I know if my grandparents were still here they would spoil Lexie like crazy.
Aunty Lorna gave us this cool pirate ship, but we never used it because we needed to get balls for it. We finally found a bag of 100 balls, but when we counted them, we were short about 20. I called the company and they said they would send the balls immediately. In fact, I got an email a few hours later saying our balls were on their way. In the meantime, Lexie is making do with her 80 balls.
Maxx is in heaven. I don't think he knows what to do with all of those balls.
I have been wanting to get Lexie a baby doll for a long time, but we have never found the perfect one. Everytime we look at a doll, Lexie either showed no interest or the doll was pretty scary looking. I've seen some really cute ones but they are kind of expensive and I didn't want to spend the money until I knew for sure that Lexie would actually play with it. We found this doll at Target and it came with a stroller. Lexie got excited when I showed it to her, so I went for it and bought it.
At first, Lexie couldn't figure out if the doll was a real baby. She was afraid to hold it and when she dropped the doll, she would get really upset. Now she holds the baby really gently and loves to push her around in the stroller.
It's cute because she pretends to feed the baby and will give her kisses.
We played in the pool today. I bought swim diapers for Lexie but I don't think they work very well. It's constantly leaking, so I don't know if it's the water or something else that's dripping from Lexie.
The water was cold, but Lexie had a great time splashing around.
Now we're counting the days until next weekend!

What I Do When Mommy's at Work

I hang out in the yard with Daddy and Maxx and Gohan.
While I wait for Daddy to bring out my crayons, I do some leg stretches.
And when it's really hot and Daddy doesn't want to turn on the AC, I run around the house with wet napkins stuck on me.

Lovin' the Pool

Lexie ran straight to the pool when she saw it in the yard. This girl is just loving the water.
I'm ready to go! Watch me slide!
SPLASH!!
That was fun! I'm going to do it again!
This time I'll close my eyes.
This is so relaxing! Why did I not like the water before?
I can swim! Well, sort of!
Next time I hope Daddy plays with us in the pool.
I love my pool and I want to stay in it all day long! I don't mind that the water was cold and my lips were turning blue!

I Love the Beach

We ventured to the beach on Saturday. We weren't sure how Lexie would be. The last time we went, she cried when we tried to take her by the water. She didn't even really want to play on the sand. We hoped this time would be different because her BFF Alia was there. They are so cute together.

Hey, Lexie, can you help me? I think my hand is stuck in this cup!
I'll race you to the water. Last one in is a rotten egg!
I think I'll just sit here and cool off a little.
Mommy, I want to ride by myself!
This is so much fun! I love the beach!
Oh, no, is it time to go home?? We don't want to leave!

Weekend Fun

Lexie loves when cousin Taryn comes for a visit. She got a little beanie lion from Las Vegas and a really cool ball with ribbons that she loves to run around with.
She's still getting used to Davis. This was probably the closest she would go by him, but she eventually warmed up to him and did kiss him good bye.
Aunty Yvette was spoiling Lexie and sharing some ice cream with her.
We went to visit the dinosaurs again. We got to see a T-Rex. Lexie wasn't even scared of it.
Lexie is so proud of herself because now she knows how to blow bubbles. She used to try to lick the bubble wand or put her lips too close to it. She finally understands what to do.
Lexie is my daughter!! She is turning into a clean freak! She likes to clean her slide. The other day she was wiping her picnic table. Even when we go out to a restaurant, she'll grab a wipie from me and will wipe the table when we're done eating. Totally cracks us up!! I love it!!

Finally Something Worth Celebrating!

Yesterday was my birthday and you know how it is. The older you get, the more you don't want to be reminded that you're getting older. But this year was different because my wish for many, many birthdays has finally come true. I now have a sweet little girl to call me mommy. Lexie is the best present I could have ever gotten. But I also really, really liked my Harajuku purse. I don't like to spend money on expensive designer purses, but I really wanted this one. Thank you Eric for being a great husband and carrying it around in Macy's. You're the best!! We also had a nice dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. Lexie was on her best behavior and she even shared her chocolate chip cookie with me. And it was so yummy!! Next time, I'll get one for myself!
Eric was also nice enough to make me some musubis for lunch that day. Lexie got to have some for breakfast.
Eric is still working on getting Lexie to become a rice eater.
