Happy Halloween!

Today is Lexie's first Halloween and the sun is shining on her! This past week has been rainy and windy and we were so worried that Lexie would not be able to experience the joys of trick or treating. Hopefully the weather stays beautiful if not we go to Plan B which is to head to the mall. The stores are going to be handing out goodies to the little ones in costumes.

Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Time!

Lexie picked a little pumpkin when we went to the market, so I decided to get some stickers and let Lexie decorate her pumpkin. She wanted to play with the stickers instead.
Finally, she started to put the stickers on her pumpkin. Such concentration!
We finally got around to carving our jack-o-lantern. While we waited for Eric to set up our carving table, Lexie wanted to start decorating the house with the lanterns that she made.
Lexie was just in awe by what was inside the pumpkin.
Of course, she had to put her hand inside to grab a few seeds.
Eric cleaned the pumpkin and he did a really good job. It was the cleanest pumpkin I've ever seen! I took over to do the carving. It was really easy with a stencil. Lexie was so interested in everything that we did! It was such a wonderful experience for us as parents. I can't wait until she's able to help us make a jack-o-lantern.
Lexie is very curious and loves to touch everything she sees. She grabbed a piece of pumpkin to smell it.
I guess it didn't smell so bad because she decided to take a bite out of it.
From the look on her face, I would think it didn't taste so good. But guess what the little girl did, she took another bite!
I think I'll wait for pumpkin pie!

Halloween Lanterns

My kindergarteners made some lanterns out of a milk carton and paper, so I decided to do this art project with Lexie.
We used a half gallon milk carton for the bigger lantern. I gave Lexie a black marker and she created the design for the lantern. We also made smaller lanterns with the half pint milk cartons. Lexie drew on a few of them, until she found some leaves on the ground that were more interesting to play with. We used a small battery operated light for the big lantern and a glowstick for the smaller one. Those lanterns were very pretty in the dark. We got the stamp of approval from Lexie because the first word out of her mouth when she saw the glowing lanterns was "WOW!"
We're going to hang the lanterns around our gate on Halloween. It'll add a nice touch for any trick or treaters who stop by.

Lexie's 1st Halloween

Last October 31, we landed in Taiwan, so this will be our very first Halloween with Lexie. We're very excited and ready to do some fun Halloween projects with her.
She loves the book, "Ladybug Girl", but we already dressed her up as a ladybug for her 1st birthday invitations, so we had to think of something else. Lexie loves boots and we paired those pink cowboy boots with a fairy outfit, and so here she is....our Strawberry Fairy Princess!
I may need to go to Abby's flying fairy school to learn how to cast some magic spells.
What did you say is behind me?
Oh, it's just a spider. That doesn't scare me!
Come down and play with me!
Now, why am I dressed like this?
I have to say "Trick or Treat"....why can't I just say "CHEESE"?
Okay, let's do some stretching before I go trick or treating.
Is there any candy in my bag?
Hey, I thought I was supposed to get some candy? By the way, what is candy? I hope that's something yummy!
All right, I'll say it....TRICK OR TREAT!!! Now can I have some candy!
Can we have some candy too??
Sorry, guys, no candy for us, but I'm sure mommy and daddy will give us some veggie sticks.
I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! I know I'll be having lots of fun when all of my cousins come over to my house to celebrate!

More Pumpkins

We went to Aloun Farms today to visit their pumpkin patch. There was a lot to do and Lexie had a fun time. The only disappointment was that Lexie was too small to go on their giant slide, even if I were to hold her on my lap. The sad part is that Lexie probably could have climbed the ladder by herself and slid down by herself also. She may be small, but she's not afraid to do things likes that.
Lexie took pictures with the pumpkin man and we think the other one was a hula girl. Still not quite sure!
This is definitely a hula girl!
Waiting for the hay ride by the giant pumpkins.
Lexie loves these rides. She didn't want to sit on our laps. She wanted to stand and hold on even though the ride was bumpy.
There were hundreds of pumpkins everywhere.
Can I take this pumpkin home?
Okay, this one is more my size.
Our little pumpkin!
Lexie loved the animals. She tried to hug this sheep, then she sat on the dirty ground next to him.
Lexie was very gentle with this little bunny.
She started gently with the rooster, but I think she ended up poking him in the eye.
Okay goats, I'm coming to pet you. Don't move!
Lexie started to be a little possessive of these animals. I think she thought they were her own personal pets. When other kids started coming in to pet the animals, she would just push her way past them to get to the animals. Then she started screaming as if she was trying to talk to the animals. We finally had to get her out of there.
Finally, on to the pumpkin patch.
I put Lexie down and off she went in search of the great pumpkin. Can you imagine sitting out here at night, just like Charlie Brown and Linus, waiting for the great pumpkin?
Doing the pumpkin dance.
So many pumpkins, so little time!
We always laugh when Lexie gives us this look.
Of course, the day wouldn't be complete without Lexie trying to climb on something.

What should I be for Halloween?

A kitty cat?
A clown?
Minnie Mouse?
Pebbles Flinstone.....I think I need to grow some hair first!
Little Red Riding Hood with a big club! The big, bad wolf won't be bothering me!
Hmmm....what should I be? So many choices.....come back on Halloween to find out!
