We used a half gallon milk carton for the bigger lantern. I gave Lexie a black marker and she created the design for the lantern. We also made smaller lanterns with the half pint milk cartons. Lexie drew on a few of them, until she found some leaves on the ground that were more interesting to play with. We used a small battery operated light for the big lantern and a glowstick for the smaller one. Those lanterns were very pretty in the dark. We got the stamp of approval from Lexie because the first word out of her mouth when she saw the glowing lanterns was "WOW!"
We're going to hang the lanterns around our gate on Halloween. It'll add a nice touch for any trick or treaters who stop by.
