April Pictures

What do I call you now? 25 months or 2 years and 1 month. I didn't think I would still be doing these monthly posts when you turned 2, but Eric still wants to take pictures. It can be a chore trying to find places to shoot pictures, but they come out so cute. How can we not take pictures of this cutie pie! I think Eric has over 30,000 pictures of Lex. Maybe more!!
And now you're beginning to be a poser. You will do anything we ask or at least try to do it.
And the only thing you ask for in return is M&Ms!
Lexie is still a little peanut. She is almost 19 pounds and 31 5/8 inches. This girl eats like there's no tomorrow, yet can't quite gain much weight.
She can fit in 6 month bottoms, but I try to get her in at least 12 months because they end up being capris or shorts. At least her tops and dresses are 18-24 months. And grandpa knows that Lexie loves her footwear, so he's always sending her shoes and sandals. He gave her these styling gold ones that she's wearing.
She is finally beginning to put 2 words together. The best thing she says is "I love you." She says "more" or "please" when she wants something. She likes to say "get it." We're hoping the terrible two's are not kicking in. Lexie can be quite whiny and gets very emotional when things don't go her way. Then she reverts to babbling and screaming!
Lexie recognizes some numbers. One day we were sitting in a restaurant and she started yelling, "4, 4, 4." And she was right, we were sitting on table number 4. She even counts backwards and says 3, 2, 1. She likes to say, "Ready, set go!" especially when she's going to tackle her daddy.
Lexie has started watching Yo Gabba Gabba. It never interested her at first, but she loves all of the music and dancing. She sings to songs on the radio when we're in the car. Once when we were taking her out of her high chair, she heard some music. She shouted, "Dance!" and began dancing to the music.
She is the littlest girl in her Gymboree class, but the most daring. She will climb the tallest steps and jump off by herself. She can hang on the monkey bars longer than anyone else. Everyone just loves her energy and her cute little headbands and ribbons.
I don't think Lexie knows the meaning of walking. She always runs, which is why she always falls and has scratches on her legs. And in between her running, she'll stop to jump. She also will just stop in the middle of the mall or a store and lie on the ground. I hate that!! And she won't get up, I have to practically drag her and then she will finally stand up.
Lexie loves puzzles. She's able to match the animals to the right spaces. She can put a 4 piece dinosaur back together and remembers where certain shapes or colors go. She's learning to do a 12 piece puzzle.
Her favorite bedtime activity is to read a book. She does have her favorites like Brown Bear and her animals sounds book. She also loves Corduroy. If she's not tired, she will repeat each word in the book. During the day, she will take out books to look at on her own.
Lexie has not gotten a taste for milk. The only way she will drink it is if I add about 4 scoops of formula to it. So we give her lots of yogurt and she loves orange juice, but we let her drink the one with calcium and vitamin D.
Lexie is not quite ready for potty training. She has used the potty a few times. She gets excited to sit on it but quickly loses interest and starts running around the house naked and screaming. I think when we're serious about it, we'll just let her go cold turkey and no diapers.
Lexie's teeth are taking so long to come out. We see them poking out and then it takes over a month for them to fully come out. She still doesn't have all of her molars. We joke that she's a vampire because her eye teeth are so pointy. And since her teeth take so long, we've had many sleepless nights and runny noses.
Our life could be much simpler and our house could be neater, but it wouldn't be complete and fullfilling without this little hurricane constantly causing chaos wherever she goes. We waited 8 years for you and every second that you've been in our lives has brought us more happiness than we could have every imagined. We love you, sweetheart!
