We finally took the plunge. Since Lexie has been doing great with her potty training, we decided it was time to convert her crib into a toddler bed.

The first thing Lexie did was climb into her bed and started jumping off the mattress. We were so worried that when we left her in her room, she would spend the night jumping. So far, she has amazed us. She climbs into bed on her own and we do our nightly ritual of hugs, kisses, saying "I love you" and "Wo ai ni" and she snuggles with her blanket and we leave the room. When we watch her on the monitor, Lexie just lies there and goes to sleep on her own.

Lexie loves sleeping with her dolls. It was okay when she was in her crib because she had nowhere to go. Some mornings, I couldn't find her because she would bury herself under her dolls. The first time she slept without rails, those dolls were taking up most of the space in the bed. Her feet were hanging off the edge and she cried for about 20 minutes because she couldn't get comfortable.

So Lexie wouldn't get pushed off the bed, we had her choose 3 friends to sleep with and made sure they were sitting at the end of the bed, so she had the top half to herself. After that, Lexie has been sleeping very well.

Now this is a girl who can open the door on her own. Yet she hasn't tried to leave her room at night. We open her door in the middle of the night when we go to sleep and we were worried that she would wake up and start causing havoc because she would have free reign of the house. Again, that wasn't the case. Every morning, I go into her room and she's in her bed playing with her dolls. We say good morning and then she jumps out of her bed.

We hope that the routine we set up with her crib continues because we're dreading the day that we may have to put a gate at her door to keep her in her room, but even that might not contain her since she's a climber.

We're happy that Lexie loves her bed and she even shares it with Gohan, who had decided that it might be more comfortable to sleep on Lexie's bed, not under it. We're waiting to see if Maxx tries to sleep in it too!

What a big day! Isn't it amazing that they stay in bed at all? I dreaded the switch with both girls and it turned out to not be a big deal after all (thankfully). Yay for the milestone!
