I'm trying to figure out how many days I can be out of school. I only get 20 days of family leave. Anything after that is unpaid, even though I have a whole bunch of sick leave days, I can't use them. Today I went to vote on my union's contract and if it's ratified, I will have 3 furlough days during the time I'm taking off, so I get a few more days to stay home with Lexie.
Now here's where the stress comes in. I had a substitute teacher lined up and she's really great and has subbed for me in the past, but since our ruling took so long, she's going to be on a trip for the first half of my leave. Now I need to find someone who will sub during that time. I know some other good subs, but they don't like to work more than a few days.
So, now I'm stuck trying to find a new substitute who will cover my entire leave or my students have to go through a rotation of subs for 2 weeks until the other one comes back from her trip. I know once I'm in Taiwan and focused on Lexie, I won't have time to think about what's happening at school, but until then, I'm totally stressed as to what's going to happen to my students. I want to make sure they are learning what they need to and the time I'm gone is not wasted.
I think once this is settled, I'll feel better, at least for a little while. :)
